Hello, and welcome to episode 333. I’m your host Taylor Bradford, thank you so much for tuning in to this episode, which is all about stop wasting time. And before I dive in the Inner Circle membership doors are closed at the moment, but you can get yourself on the waitlist by going to bossgirlcreative.com/InnerCircle. The doors will be reopening December 1st, so you want to make sure that you get your name on that waitlist so that I can alert you to the moment that the doors reopen. The membership is $27 a month and it gives you access to the group of the other Inner Circle members. Plus it gives you a monthly live Q&A to help uplevel your blog or business. We also have a monthly book club, which we focus on a business book and we actually dive in to do the work that we learn in the business book. So since I started the business book club, for the Inner Circle, we have read 1.75 books. So I don’t want us to just fly through a book every single month, I want us to actually take action on the things we learn, which is why we do a super deep dive into the books that we end up reading. You also get to that’s two monthly co-working sessions with your fellow members of the Inner Circle. And those sessions are 90 minutes long. And we just show up and do work together and get things done. Knock things off the to-do list. It is very impactful for your business to be able to set aside time to work alongside other creatives to knock off things off your to-do list. Those are key benefits of being a part of the Inner Circle membership. And you definitely want to get yourself on that waitlist. So go to bossgirlcreative.com/InnerCircle to get added ASAP.

I would so appreciate it. bossgirlcreative.com/fallsurvey. And yes, for real, you will get a freebie one-to-one 20-minute session with me. So go do it.
All right, so let’s dive in to this week’s episode. Which you guys okay, in my world right now. It is crazy, crazy wedding season. And we’ve also got lots of other things happening where we’ve got this new roofing business that we’re trying to get off the ground, and we’re exploring some other business ideas and some other things are on the table that are kind of waiting in the wings. It is not a dull moment in my life. It is never a dull moment in my life. For example, just yesterday alone, I unloaded my trailer, I had my assistant work on the dishware that was dirty over the weekend, and we’re prepping for this weekend’s weddings. And on top of that I did work out. So that has been a huge new priority for me over the last three months. So I got to work out in. I worked on the farm tables that ended up in the rain a couple weeks ago. I am battling the insurance adjuster who was a total horrible human to me over that. I have since requested for him to be pulled from the claim and to talk to somebody higher up because he treated me so poorly in a phone conversation. Like he laughed at me in our phone conversation and he was just a super smarmy ugly individual. And now he’s trying to apologize for that. And sorry, it’s too late. So dealt with that, fired off multiple emails back and forth yesterday over that call to find out who his supervisor was, and also who that supervisor’s supervisor was – anyway, it’s a whole thing. I also had to attend a planning and zoning meeting by my city because they are basically saying that one of our properties – our commercial properties – can no longer have the distinguishment of what it currently is. Like, we’re going to be grandfathered, but if it ever changes the business type – so we have a car lot, which we actually have a mechanic in right now renting from us. If that guy moves out, and another type of business moves in, we can never reclaim the mechanic business, or the car lot business. Like, they will forever take that away. And so that – oh my gosh. When government starts meddling in the things that you try to make money from, or you tried to better your own city with, and then they’re like, “yeah, no, we don’t want that type of business on that road anymore and so we’re going to slowly take that away.” And basically, it didn’t matter whether or not I showed up last night, the planning zoning committee actually admitted on record that they had already made up their mind that these new zoning rules were going to go into effect. So now, we have to go to city council meeting next month, to hear how that’s gonna go down. And again, it’s gonna pass, which is terrible. So now my husband, I are trying to figure out how to ensure that we maintain that mechanic status and a car lot status, at the same time, so that we never lose that opportunity. And it’s a thing. It’s a thing. I’s a thing I don’t want to be working through right now, but it is what it is. My life is never boring.
So lately, I have been super inspired in a lot of different ways. And I’m really excited about what that looks like for Sugar Creek, and for Boss Girl Creative. And I haven’t had this level of inspired-ness in a long time and I’m really grateful for it. Super grateful for it.
So we’re gonna move into this week’s episode, stop wasting time. And it’s because I feel like in my own world, I have been wasting time. I’ve just been going through the motions, I’ve just been, you know, showing up when I needed to show up. And not that I don’t show up, but like, mentally, I haven’t always been fully in. And when you’re running your business, you have to stay connected to it. You have to continue fueling your progress forward. You have to continue to dig deep, and keep that passion alive, for why you started it in the first place. Unless it’s just time for you to move on. And then that’s a whole different conversation that we can have.
And it starts with how much time we waste daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. And that’s what I want to talk about today is stop wasting time. You’re holding your own self back. You’re holding your own self back. And whether or not this is because you lack motivation. Whether or not this is because you have fear. Whether or not this is because you don’t feel like you have the goods. Whether or not this is because you don’t feel like this was meant for you. It all comes back to we are wasting time because of one of those reasons.
So number one, there is actually enough time. You have 24 hours each day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. There is actually enough time, so stop wasting it and use your time wisely. They always say we all have the same 24 hours like Beyonce. I think that’s really funny, but it’s true. There is actually enough time stop wasting it. Use your time wisely.
Number two, make a plan and stick to it. Sit down, write out everything you need to do. set a specific time and day to get it done. Prioritize the list. Urgent tasks do not come before important tasks. Let me repeat that. Urgent tasks do not come before important tasks. If something is important to you, if it will improve your life or make you money, that task, that to-do, that thing that you feel is important, because it does improve your life or it will make you money, that has to come first that’s important. What’s urgent, doesn’t take priority. What’s important takes priority.
Number three, just do it. Set a 20-minute timer and go. If you’re procrastinating, stop the procrastination. Set a 20-minute timer and just go.
Number four, stop making excuses. If you could go 30 days without any excuses, how much would you get done? What would you accomplish? How far could you get in a month? Start with today and get rid of your excuses.
Number five, stop with the broken promises to yourself. Every time you promised yourself something and then you don’t follow through. You lose trust in yourself. You become more unreliable to yourself. Teach yourself to be trustworthy. Do the things you promised yourself. Do the things that you say you’re going to do.
Number six, turn your phone on airplane mode. Practice self-control over your distractions. Get rid of your distractions turn them off, turn your notifications off by turning your phone on airplane mode.
Number seven. Don’t multitask. It ruins your focus and makes you less productive and prevents you from completing tasks efficiently. Focus on one thing at a time, stop multitasking.
Number eight, get reorganized. clean and tidy your workspace. Clean up your desktop. put things in folders so that you are more organized.
Number nine, only check your social media one to two times a day.
Number 10, choose a time in your schedule to actually schedule your social media posts in one fell swoop.
Number 11, schedule time to continue to learn. You aren’t the end all be all you don’t know it all right now, there is always room to learn. Schedule time for that. It will make you a better human.
Number 12, spend one day a week writing content for your business. Or spend one time a month creating the content for your business for a month of content.
Number 13, create branded templates for your blog and your social media so that that step doesn’t take you forever when it’s time to publish something.
Number 14. Keep a brainstorming notebook or file on your computer for all of your ideas and schedule time each month to hash out one of those ideas whether or not it’s feasible for you to move forward on.
Number 15, schedule time to work on your business schedule, CEO time that is time to work on your business not in it. This is for product development. This is for service development. This is to figure out when you can hire your first human that will help you schedule time to work on your business whether that’s weekly, or whether that’s monthly. schedule that time.
And number 16, choose days to work with your clients and take appointments with those clients and keep those boundaries sacred. For Sugar Creek. I only take appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays and weekend time are not available for appointments. This is important for me, and very rarely do I get challenged on it. When I do, I simply explain why it is that I don’t do appointments outside of those times. Choose days to work with clients and keep those boundaries sacred.
So what you want in life is possible. Accept it. Believe it. But you got to stop wasting time. Achieving what you want doesn’t have to be a struggle. Plan. Be positive. Be consistent with steps towards your goals. But you got to stop wasting time. Switch your focus to making money instead of saving money. How can you generate more of it? How can you invest what you have? How can you seek additional opportunities to grow what you’ve got? Stop wasting time on all the other things. You can do this. So stop wasting time you can do whatever it is that you set your mind to. But stop wasting time. Be willing to invest in yourself. Be willing to invest in your dreams. Be willing to invest in the life that you want. But you got to stop wasting time. Time is not renewable. We have the same 24 hours every single day. It’s not renewable. You have a gift every day that you wake up. To start again. You have a gift every day that you wake up to start again Stop wasting time. Be willing to invest in yourself. Be willing to invest in your dreams be willing to create the life that you want. But you can only do that if you stop wasting time.
